PDP Crisis: Oyinlola’s Committee, Govs to Meet Damagum, NWC Members Today

Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called a crucial meeting today with acting National Chairman Amb Umar Damagum, National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and other key figures ahead of the National Executive Committee session scheduled for Thursday.

The meeting will feature a briefing from the reconciliation committee led by Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who is expected to present its findings and recommendations to the party’s National Working Committee.

After a recent discussion with the PDP National Assembly caucus in Abuja, Oyinlola outlined the committee’s objectives. “As part of our assignment, we scheduled to meet members of the National Assembly to share their experiences and understand what is causing the dwindling fortunes of our party politically,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of unity, noting, “One obvious thing is that for any party to enter into a political battle and win, it must be united. That’s what we’re aiming for.”

The former governor of Osun State also mentioned that the party is refining its strategies for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election and is actively working to reconcile aggrieved members to present a united front.

In related developments, there are growing indications that ex-Senate President David Mark, former Benue State governor Gabriel Suswam, and Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, the Director General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, are being considered as potential successors to the troubled acting national chairman.
