Bolt Driver Fatally Shot in Yenagoa as Police Launch Investigation

Authorities in Bayelsa State have opened an investigation following the fatal shooting of a Bolt driver, whose body was discovered early Friday morning at Samphino Junction in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa, the state capital.
According to information obtained by Punch Metro, passersby noticed the lifeless body of the middle-aged man inside his parked vehicle and promptly alerted police officers, who arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area for investigation.
The incident occurred less than a week after another violent killing nearby, where 27-year-old Federal University, Otuoke graduate, Daniel Ayama, was murdered by unknown assailants just under a kilometre away.
Initial findings suggest the driver may have been deliberately targeted, as he was reportedly shot at close range. Authorities indicated that no personal belongings appeared to have been taken from the vehicle, reinforcing suspicions of a possible assassination.
In response to the killing, the spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Musa Mohammed, confirmed that a comprehensive investigation had been launched.
“We are working to gather all necessary intelligence. Forensic teams have been deployed to the scene and we are also liaising with the Bolt company to retrieve trip data that may help in tracking down the culprits,” Mohammed stated.
Meanwhile, members of the drivers’ union and concerned stakeholders have urged law enforcement to act swiftly.
They called on the police to “expedite their investigations and ensure that those behind the murder are brought to justice.”
