Police Investigate Death of Crossdresser Found on Abuja Road

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has begun an investigation into the death of a yet-to-be-identified crossdresser found on a road in Abuja. According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the police received a distress call on August 8, 2024, at approximately 7:40 AM, reporting a motionless body along the Katampe-Mabushi expressway.

Upon arrival, detectives found a man dressed in women’s clothing with no identification on him. He was rushed to Maitama District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, has ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the individual’s death.

Adeh stated, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the individual was a man fully dressed in female clothing with no means of identification on him. He was immediately taken to Maitama District Hospital where Doctors on duty confirmed him dead.”

She added, “The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP has promptly ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death. Updates on this matter will be communicated in due course.”

The police are working to determine the identity of the deceased and the events leading up to his death. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as more information becomes available.
