Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Urges Senate President’s Wife to Let Him Defend Himself

The embattled Senator representing Kogi Central at the National Assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Nduaghan, has advised the wife of the Senate President, Mrs Unoma Akpabio to allow her husband defend himself.
A heated dispute is erupted between Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The controversy began when Akpoti-Uduaghan refused to sit in a designated seat during a Senate session, citing Order 10 of the Senate Standing Rules.
Tensions escalated when Akpoti-Uduaghan appeared on Arise News, accusing Akpabio of blocking her motions, maligning her, and intimidating her after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.
In response, Mrs. Unoma Akpabio held a press conference in Abuja, dismissing the allegations against her husband.
However, Akpoti-Uduaghan has advised Mrs. Akpabio to stay out of the matter, emphasizing that the accusations are personal to the Senate President.
In a letter dated March 1, 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s lawyer, Victor Giwa, wrote: “Our Client is not desirous of calling you out into the unfortunate saga concerning her allegations against the Senate President, and wishes that you restrain yourself from delving into the obscene circumstances.”
The letter further stated: “Consequently, we would like to state that the allegations of our client are personal to the Senate President, and our client believes the Senate President has the capacity to defend himself and refute any of these allegations against him.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan claims to have concrete evidence to substantiate her allegations and has urged Mrs. Akpabio to let her husband defend himself for the sake of her sanity and family.
The dispute has sparked intense debate, with some Nigerians supporting Akpoti-Uduaghan’s stance and others defending the Senate President and his wife. The controversy is expected to continue, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
