Abia Police Conduct Major Crackdown, Arrest 141, Rescue 23

The Katsina State Police Command has intensified its enforcement of a curfew imposed by the state government and issued a stern warning to protesters as the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria movement entered its fifth day.

On Monday, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Public Relations Officer for the Katsina State Police Command, announced that authorities will arrest anyone participating in protests. The police have reinforced the curfew and protest ban previously established in the state.

ASP Sadiq confirmed that the Katsina State Government’s ban on protests, unlawful assemblies, and the curfew is still in effect. A 24-hour curfew is enforced in Dutsinma LGA, while the remaining 33 LGAs are under a 12-hour curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

“This measure is aimed at preventing further escalation of violence, vandalism, and looting of private and public property, and at maintaining public safety and security,” Sadiq explained.

He emphasized, “The Command remains committed to enforcing this ban while ensuring that peace and order are restored in the state. We call on the good people of Katsina State to continue to cooperate with the command as well as other security agencies in this effort. Your understanding and compliance are crucial to maintaining the safety and security of the state.”

Sadiq also urged, “We call on parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against engaging in acts that are in conflict with the law, and to encourage them to remain law-abiding citizens. We encourage everyone to remain calm and go about their lawful activities within the confines of the law, as we will not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone who violates this ban. Let us work together to ensure peace and stability in Katsina State.”
