As Prof. John Emaimo Receives High-Powered Medical Delegation, Partnership Signals New Era of Academic, Research and Professional Collaboration

In a significant move poised to deepen academic excellence and strengthen medical education in Nigeria, the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu, Prof. John Emaimo, on Tuesday received in audience a distinguished delegation from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria led by its President, Prof. Anthony N. Ikefuna.

The visit, described as strategic and forward-looking, was aimed at formally inviting the Vice Chancellor to the forthcoming 20th Annual Scientific Conference and All Fellows’ Congress (ASCAF) of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria scheduled to hold from August 3 to August 7, 2026, at the International Conference Centre (ICC) and Amaedo Event Centre, Enugu.

During the high-level engagement, the leadership of the Postgraduate Medical College expressed strong confidence in the rising profile and institutional progress of the university, affirming their readiness to collaborate with the institution in achieving its academic, professional and research-driven goals.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, the President of NPMCN, Prof. Anthony N. Ikefuna, emphasized the importance of synergy between professional medical bodies and tertiary institutions in advancing healthcare education, specialist training and scientific innovation in Nigeria.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Emaimo, described the visit as timely and impactful, noting that the partnership opportunities embedded in the invitation would open new frontiers for the university.

According to him, Federal University of Allied Health Sciences Enugu stands to benefit immensely through stronger collaborations, enhanced academic programmes, practical supervision opportunities, institutional networking and expanded research windows capable of positioning the university as a major hub for medical and allied health sciences in Africa.

Also present from the university management team were the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Cajetan Nwadinigwe, and the Registrar of the institution, Barr. Dr. Chris Igbokwe.

The visiting delegation from National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria included Prof. Temitope A. Sean, College Registrar; Prof. Emmanuel Jeje, Chairman of the Ceremonial Committee; Prof. Enweani, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee; Dr. Akpe James, Secretary of the Local Organising Committee; Prof. Osita Ezenwosu, Deputy Secretary of the Local Organising Committee; Prof. Sean Ohaegbulam, member of the Advisory Team; and Dr. Ejim, a Cardiologist and member of the team.

The meeting further reinforced the growing momentum toward institutional partnerships capable of transforming postgraduate medical education, clinical research and healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
