Zamfara Gov Approves Stipends for Corps Members Serving in State

The Zamfara State Government has approved the payment of allowances to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the state, in a move aimed at improving the welfare of corps members and encouraging their contributions to development efforts across Zamfara.

The approval was granted by Governor Dauda Lawal, who directed the commencement of stipends for serving corps members in recognition of their role in key sectors of the state’s economy and social services.

According to the government, the payment will cover corps members from Batch A Stream I and II through to Batch C Stream I and II, ensuring that those currently serving under the affected batches benefit from the initiative.

The state said the decision underscores Governor Lawal’s commitment to supporting young graduates participating in the national service programme and acknowledges the impact they continue to make in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture and community development.

To ensure prompt implementation, the governor has instructed the Office of the Accountant General to put all necessary mechanisms in place for the disbursement of the approved allowances.

Officials noted that the process would be carried out in line with established procedures to guarantee a seamless rollout.

The government expressed appreciation to corps members who accepted deployment to Zamfara despite prevailing challenges, commending their patriotism, dedication and service to communities across the state.

It further reaffirmed its commitment to creating a conducive environment for corps members to carry out their national assignment effectively, while promising to continue introducing programmes and policies designed to enhance their welfare and overall service experience in the state.

The administration maintained that supporting NYSC members remains part of its broader strategy to strengthen human capital development and accelerate socio-economic growth across Zamfara State.
