Julius Agwu Reveals Brain Surgery Left Him With Sexual Health Complication

Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has opened up about a lasting effect he says he experienced following brain surgery in the United States in 2015, revealing that the procedure affected his sexual function.

Agwu made the disclosure during a recent episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, where he discussed the physical, professional and personal consequences of his battle with a serious brain condition.

During the conversation, the host asked whether the condition or the surgery had affected other parts of his body, including his sexual function.

Agwu responded, “After I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work.”

Other guests on the programme, including Mr Patrick, subsequently discussed the possible connection between the part of the brain affected and the nerves involved, as they sought to explain the complication described by the comedian.

Agwu underwent surgery in 2015 after doctors reportedly discovered three tumours in his brain, one of which was said to be about the size of a golf ball.

The comedian has previously spoken about the ordeal and its impact on both his personal life and career.

The latest episode also provided an opportunity for Agwu to reflect on his contribution to the Nigerian comedy industry, particularly his role in popularising music comedy.

He said, “Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,”

The conversation later became emotional as Agwu broke down while reflecting on his career, relationships and what he described as a lack of support from some friends during his difficult period.

“God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me. I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.

Agwu remains recognised as one of the notable figures in Nigeria’s comedy scene, particularly for his blend of music and humour, as well as his appearances in Nollywood productions.
