Kwara State in near total lockdown over Coronavirus fears

The Kwara State Government Wednesday, ordered the a total lockdown of the state, as it ordered the closure of mosques and churches across the state effective from Thursday.

The lockdown order, given as part of measures aimed at curtailing the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in the state, also affected commercial vehicles, including tricycles and motorcycles.

The state Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, gave the directive during a chat with journalists in Ilorin, the state capital.

Alabi also disclosed that security agents will be on ground to ensure full compliance.

He said: “There should be no movement of commercial vehicles, social gatherings, while motor parks in the state have also been closed down.”

The Deputy Governor further said that fast foods operators will be allowed to operate but will be in takeaways.

He called on residents of the state to adhere to the directive of the state government in the efforts to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
