Funke Akindele, JJC Skillz in court for flouting COVID-19 lockdown

Popular actress, Funke Akindele and her musician/director husband Abdulrasheed Bello, widely known as JJC Skillz, have been dragged before an Ogba Chief Magistrate Court for flouting the lockdown ordered by government to curb the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 disease in the country.

confirmed the development on Monday, saying that Funke, widely known as Jenifa, had been taken to a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, Lagos.
“The husband arrived at the SCID around 2 am and they will be arraigned together.”
It would be recalled that the popular actress was arrested on Sunday after hosting a birthday party in honour of her husband at their Amen Estate residence.
Scores of Nigerians were angered when they the video of the party appeared online, wondering why the couple would host such a party during the lockdown and when social distancing has become the order of the day all over the world.
The actress and her husband were accused of breaching the Lagos Infection Diseases Regulations 2020 (the Regulations) which prescribes a jail term of one month or N100,000 fine or both for persons found guilty of hosting gatherings or flouting the lockdown order.
“Where there is a violation of a close down or stay at home order, security Agencies shall have the power to arrest without warrant and may detain any person who violates the close down or stay at home order for at least 48 hours.
“Where the arrested person is found guilty, the person is liable to a fine of N100,000.00 or one-month imprisonment or three months Community service” the law says.
