Flood takes over Kaduna LG, thousands displaced

A devastating flood has taken over Kafanchan and surrounding villages in Jema’a Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, displacing over 1,000 residents and claiming the lives of two children.
The flood, which hit parts of Kafanchan town, Jagindi, Atuku, Aso, and Bade wards, has also destroyed farmlands, with crops worth millions of naira washed away.
According to Mrs. Christy Usman, Vice Chairman of Jema’a LGA, “The flood has severely hit the economy of Jema’a LGA, but we are grateful that Governor Uba Sani has responded by dispatching a committee led by the Chief of Staff, Malam Sani Liman Kila, to assess the damage.”
The Kaduna State Impact Assessment Committee on Flood visited the affected communities in the south of Kaduna on Monday, where they witnessed the extent of the destruction. The committee’s visit was led by Malam Sani Liman Kila, Chief of Staff to Governor Uba Sani.
The flood has left thousands of residents without shelter or livelihoods, with many more affected by the destruction of farmlands and crops. The exact extent of the damage is still being assessed, but it is clear that the flood has had a devastating impact on the community.
Photos of the affected areas show the extent of the destruction, with homes and buildings submerged in water and farmlands destroyed.
The Kaduna State Government has promised to provide support to those affected by the flood, but for now, the people of Jema’a LGA are left to pick up the pieces and try to rebuild their lives.
