Naira gains N1.79 against dollar at official window

The Nigerian currency, the naira, appreciated against the American dollar at the official window on Monday, August 4, 2025.
According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Foreign exchange data, the naira closed at N1, 531.95/$1 as against the N1, 533.74/$1 it traded on Friday, August 1, 2025.
This represents a gain of N1.79 for the local currency against the American greenback.
On the black market, the naira gained N2 against the dollar to trade at N1,563/$1, as against the previous day’s rate of N1,565/$1.
The naira closed flat against the British Pound to trade at N2,120/£1 same as the previous day’s rate of N2,120/£1.
The naira continued to close flat against the Canadian dollar to trade at N1,200/CA$1, the same as the previous day’s rate of N1,200/CA$1.
The naira lost N5 against the Euro to trade at ₦1,800/€1 as against the previous day’s rate of ₦1,795/€1.
