Leadership Newspaper Names Lawal Governor of the Year as Zamfara Gov Reaffirms Reform Drive

Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has reiterated his administration’s resolve to deliver measurable development outcomes and restore public confidence in governance, following his emergence as LEADERSHIP Newspaper Governor of the Year.
The award was presented on Thursday, February 12, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, during the newspaper’s annual conference and awards ceremony.
The recognition, according to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, is part of LEADERSHIP Newspaper’s tradition of celebrating public officials and private individuals whose contributions have earned national commendation.
The conference attracted high-profile dignitaries, including the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dr. Amina Mohammed, who delivered the keynote address. Speaking on the theme, “Political Stability and Sustainable Development in Africa in an Increasingly Unstable Global System: A Roadmap for Nigeria,” Dr. Mohammed stressed the importance of purposeful leadership and resilient institutions in confronting global and domestic challenges.
While presenting the award, LEADERSHIP Newspaper cited Governor Lawal’s reform-oriented leadership and the far-reaching initiatives of his administration, noting, “Governor Dauda Lawal’s remarkable performance and courageous leadership have positioned Zamfara on a renewed path of progress, peace, and sustainable development.”

The newspaper said the honour reflects the impact of policies implemented under Lawal’s leadership, particularly in the areas of security, infrastructure development and economic revitalisation, adding that his governance style demonstrates commitment, accountability and service to the people.
The latest recognition comes barely two weeks after Governor Lawal was also named The Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year at an award ceremony held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, further reinforcing growing national acknowledgement of the reforms and transformation underway in Zamfara State under his administration.
