Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the immediate removal of Buba Galadima, a strong ally of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and a chieftain of New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), as Chairman of the Governing Council, Kano State Polytechnic.

In a circular signed on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Gov. Yusuf said the removal of Galadima followed ongoing reforms for optimal performance of the Polytechnic as well as restructuring and alignment with Kano First Agenda.

The statement also announced the immediate appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the new Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution.

“Although the tenure of the Governing Council is for a period of three years, the appointment of the Chairman was terminated before expiration due to the ongoing reforms for optimal performance of the Polytechnic,” the statement said.

“Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to Engr. Buba Galadima for the services he rendered to the institution during his tenure as Chairman of the Governing Council.

“The Governor urged the newly appointed Chairman, the Emir of Gaya, to bring his wealth of experience, leadership and commitment to bear in repositioning Kano State Polytechnic for greater academic and administrative excellence,” it added.
