Iran’s Khamenei Accuses US, Israel of Plot to Weaken Islamic Republic

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, on Thursday accused the United States and Israel of attempting to undermine the stability of the Islamic Republic through sustained political, economic and psychological pressure.

In a written address broadcast on Iranian state television, Khamenei alleged that Washington and Tel Aviv were pursuing strategies aimed at creating internal divisions and weakening national unity following recent regional conflicts.

“The enemy’s blind plan, after the imposed war, the economic pressure, and the political and propaganda siege, is to create divisions and disintegration in order to compensate for military defeats and bring the nation to its knees,” Khamenei stated.

The message was delivered to mark the anniversary of the establishment of Iran’s national legislature and also served as a call for solidarity among citizens amid growing tensions in the region.

Khamenei urged Iranians to maintain national “cohesion” and unity in the face of external pressure and geopolitical challenges confronting the country.

The 56-year-old cleric assumed leadership of Iran after succeeding his father, Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed on February 28 during the opening phase of coordinated US-Israeli strikes on Iran that later escalated into a wider regional conflict.

Thursday’s statement marked one of the clearest public messages yet from Mojtaba Khamenei since assuming office in March, even as speculation has continued over Iran’s political and military posture following the conflict.
