Dangote Refinery Begins PMS Exports to Cameroon in Historic Milestone

Published

on

Dangote Refinery, Africa’s largest oil refinery, has marked a major milestone by exporting its first shipment of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to Cameroon. This achievement, in partnership with Neptune Oil, underscores a shared commitment to strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon while addressing the region’s growing energy demands.

In a statement issued yesterday, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, celebrated the accomplishment as a pivotal step toward fostering energy independence in Africa.

“This first export of PMS to Cameroon is a tangible demonstration of our vision for a united and energy-independent Africa,” said Dangote. “With this development, we are laying the foundation for a future where African resources are refined and exchanged within the continent for the benefit of our people.”

Antoine Ndzengue, Director and Owner of Neptune Oil, also emphasized the significance of this collaboration for Cameroon.

“This partnership with Dangote Refinery marks a turning point for Cameroon,” Ndzengue stated. “By becoming the first importer of petroleum products from this world-class refinery, we are bolstering our country’s energy security and supporting local economic development. This initial supply, executed without international intermediaries, reflects our commitment to serving our markets independently and efficiently.”

Strengthening Regional Energy Cooperation

The export marks the beginning of a deeper collaboration between Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil. Both companies are exploring new initiatives to establish a stable supply chain, which is expected to help stabilize fuel prices and create economic opportunities across the region.

For Nigeria, this milestone highlights Dangote Refinery’s capacity to meet domestic fuel demands while emerging as a significant player in the regional energy market. The export represents a major stride in ensuring that high-quality, locally refined petroleum products benefit neighboring African countries.

By reducing reliance on international intermediaries and fostering regional partnerships, Dangote Refinery and Neptune Oil are setting a precedent for intra-African trade and collaboration in the energy sector.
