A Scholarly Felicitation to Hon. Funsho Olumoko on His Ph.D Achievement

I warmly felicitate with Hon. Funsho Olumoko, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council at the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, Plateau State, on the successful defence of his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Viva in Election and Party Politics.

This remarkable academic milestone represents not only a personal triumph, but also a significant contribution to the expanding body of knowledge on elections, political parties, democratic governance and the evolving dynamics of political participation in Nigeria. His doctoral research, undertaken under the joint project supervision of Prof Matthew Ola of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), in conjunction with the Federal University of Lokoja, is a testimony to the value of rigorous scholarship in strengthening democratic institutions and political development.

The attainment of the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Party Politics and Elections is particularly noteworthy given the centrality of political parties and credible electoral processes to the consolidation of democratic governance. I am confident that Dr. Olumoko’s new academic distinction will further enrich his contributions to intellectual discourse, public policy and political practice.

Beyond the academic honour, this achievement comes with a greater responsibility to deploy knowledge for the advancement of society. I am optimistic that Dr. Funsho Olumoko’s scholarship, experience and emerging expertise in party politics and elections will add significant value to the progressive family and contribute meaningfully to political development in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.

As he joins the distinguished community of Doctors of Philosophy, I congratulate him warmly and commend his perseverance, intellectual discipline and commitment to scholarship. May this new attainment open greater doors of service, leadership and impact, while providing him with opportunities to contribute even more substantially to the strengthening of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
