Born on this day in 1967 in the serene community of Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Professor Amupitan turns 59—a milestone that invites deep reflection on a life dedicated to the rigorous pursuit of knowledge, the elevation of legal scholarship, and now, the sacred duty of strengthening Nigeria’s democratic foundations.

From humble beginnings in a family rooted in education and moral uprightness—his mother, Alice Ajigba Amupitan, an educator and church leader—Professor Amupitan’s journey embodies the transformative power of disciplined intellect and principled service. He laid his academic foundation at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, before proceeding to the University of Jos, where he earned his LL.B. (called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988), LL.M. (1993), and Ph.D. in Law (2007). Specializing in Evidence Law, Corporate Governance, Corporate Law, and Privatisation Law, he rose through the ranks at the University of Jos from Assistant Lecturer in 1989 to full Professor in 2008.
