2027 Race: Fubara Rallies Support for Tinubu, Calls for Stronger Southern Alliance

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, saying continued support would allow the administration to sustain what he described as ongoing progress across the country.

He emphasized the need for continuity, noting that the President should be given the opportunity to build further on his “bold, daring and ambitious vision” aimed at achieving inclusive and sustainable national development.

The governor made these remarks on Thursday while officially opening a meeting of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt.

Fubara portrayed the President as a “dedicated and highly patriotic” leader, adding that his leadership provides reassurance about the country’s direction and stability.

Reflecting on developments under the current administration, the governor pointed to what he considers significant strides made over the past three years, expressing confidence that more gains would follow under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said, “If Tinubu is re-elected in 2027, we are all witnesses to the transformation of our battered economy and the ongoing infrastructural revolution, including the remarkable coastal road project in the southern and other parts of the country in just three years.

“Although challenges remain in certain regions, we all trust in Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and dedication to safeguarding our nation, transforming the economy and delivering equitable development to all regions.

“In football, the saying goes that no coach changes a winning team. Therefore, Nigerians have no choice but to support President Tinubu at this crucial time and work together to re-elect him in 2027 to continue implementing his bold, daring and ambitious vision for the inclusive and sustainable development of our nation,” he said.

Welcoming the traditional rulers, Fubara noted that their presence in Port Harcourt signaled both the peaceful atmosphere in Rivers State and the unity shared among southern communities.

He stated, “Although we are ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse to some extent, the beauty lies in the fact that we are all committed to being part and parcel of an ever-indivisible Nigeria, despite our differences.

“As a region, we have a duty to build our future together and promote the collective interests of our people for a better life, which we can achieve more rapidly through collaboration with the Federal Government.

“Similarly, southern cooperation and solidarity will offer a clearer and more practical pathway for sharing knowledge and ideas, working together to realise the common goals and aspirations of our people for sustainable peace, security and development,” he said.

Fubara also highlighted the critical role of traditional rulers, noting that their closeness to grassroots communities positions them as vital intermediaries between citizens and government authorities.

He commended their efforts in fostering peace and development across Southern Nigeria and urged them to stay committed to advancing the region’s cultural, economic, and political priorities.

The governor further encouraged the monarchs to hold meaningful discussions that would strengthen peace, security, and development, not only in the southern region but across the country.

The gathering brought together traditional rulers from the South-South, South-East, and South-West, with deliberations expected to focus on how traditional institutions can deepen unity, cohesion, and sustainable development throughout Southern Nigeria.
