Wike Brands ADC’s New Leaders as “Expired, Failed Politicians”

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has delivered a scathing critique of the coalition that recently took control of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He dismissed its leaders as “a gang of failed and expired politicians” with nothing substantial to offer Nigerians.

Wike did not hold back, launching pointed criticisms at coalition figures one by one.

He began with former Senate President David Mark: “I heard David Mark say they want to rescue Nigeria. That Nigerians are not happy. But the man was Senate President for eight years, and Nigerians were happy? There was no single project in Otukpo. Not one. He was flying with a helicopter to Otukpo. Nigerians were not angry then, but they are angry now?”

Expanding his criticism, Wike took aim at others. He accused former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi of plunging the country into debt through Chinese loans.

“Amaechi was minister. He took Chinese loans and made Nigeria so indebted to China. So, Nigerians were happy then?” Wike continued, “When you were in power, Nigerians were happy, but the moment you are no longer in power, Nigerians are no longer happy.”

He also rebuked former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, questioning the shutdown of Air Nigeria: “I saw Sirika. What happened to Air Nigeria? Nigerians were happy then?”

Turning to other coalition figures, Wike said: “Tambuwal was Speaker for four years. What did he do to make Nigerians not be angry? He was governor for eight years. What did he do?” He further slammed the party’s former Attorney-General, saying: “I read what Malami wrote. It was so shameful. He was AGF. What did he do? What was his contribution to resolving the security challenges?”

Wike also commented on former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, suggesting his move to the ADC was driven by a personal conflict: “He only moved to the ADC because he has fallen out with his godfather, Senator Bukola Saraki.”

In conclusion, Wike offered what he believes is a more credible alternative to Tinubu’s ruling party.

“The only party today that can still challenge Tinubu is the PDP—if they put their house in order.”
