Why Tinubu Must Reconsider His Unfair Treatment of Oyo APC
In 2023, Oyo APC worked tirelessly to deliver votes that made President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency a reality. We mobilized, we defended the mandate, we delivered the highest votes in the entire south west states and we believed our loyalty would be rewarded with fairness.
Sadly, that has not been the case.
When it was time to appoint a Minister from Oyo, the President picked Chief Adebayo Adelabu — a man who had left APC for Accord. When Adelabu resigned, the replacement was Dr. Joseph Tegbe — another who had left APC for PDP.
Now, as we approach 2027, the same pattern is repeating. We are being told that Senator Sarafadeen Alli, a candidate with PDP blood, is being imposed on us as APC governorship flagbearer. Worse, we hear that Dr Zach Adedeji — who has never voted in Oyo and has consistently supported opposition against our party — is being used to torment loyal members and force this imposition.
This is not reward. This is punishment.
We are also hearing rumors of a backdoor deal with Gov. Seyi Makinde. That is not the solution.
What Oyo APC needs is simple: A sellable, loyal party member who can win elections for APC in Oyo State. Anything less will spell doom for the party in 2027.
It should also be noted that the action of the National chairman of the party, Professor Nentawe Yilwada in ibadan during the week is not helpful and a gross insult to members of the party in the state
Mr. President, please reconsider. Do not repeat the Osun mistake in Oyo. The loyalty of Oyo APC deserves respect and should not be taken for granted.
