Wema Bank Named 2025 Commercial Bank of the Year at Nairametrics Awards

Wema Bank has been honoured with the ‘Commercial Bank of the Year’ award at the 2025 Nairametrics Capital Market Choice Awards (NCMC Awards), a recognition of its impressive financial performance and leadership in Nigeria’s banking sector.

The award was presented during a high-profile ceremony held on May 23rd at the Civic Center in Lagos, where top-performing companies across Nigeria’s capital markets were celebrated for excellence based on data-backed financial metrics.

The NCMC Awards, themed “Capital Market as a Catalyst for Nigeria’s Economic Transformation,” recognises publicly listed firms that deliver exceptional value through strong profitability, revenue growth, shareholder return, and sound corporate governance. Wema Bank emerged top in the fiercely contested Commercial Bank of the Year category.

The award follows Wema Bank’s ₦102 billion profit before tax in 2024, remarkable revenue and profitability growth, and one of the industry’s strongest returns on equity.
