Telegram Reacts to Arrest of its CEO in France, Says He has Nothing to Hide
Cloud-based mobile and desktop messaging app, Telegram, has reacted to the arrest of its Chief Executive Officer, Pavel Durov, in France.
The 39-year-old billionaire was arrested by the police at an airport in the north of France on Saturday.
He was arrested after his private jet landed at Le Bourget Airport for offenses related to the popular messaging app
According to reports, Mr. Durov is being investigated for refusing to stop the continuous criminal use of Telegram or moderating the application.
Telegram said in a statement on X platform and it’s official news channel on Sunday afternoon that the CEO “has nothing to hide.”
The statement read: “It is absurd to claim that a platform or its owner is responsible for the abuse of that platform.
“Telegram abides by EU laws, including the Digital Services Act — its moderation is within industry standards and constantly improving.’
