Ondo SSG Fasoranti Steps Down, Declares Interest in 2027 Senate Race

The Secretary to the Government of Ondo State, Taiwo Fasoranti, has resigned from his position to pursue his ambition of representing Ondo Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.

Fasoranti, who is the son of Reuben Fasoranti, formally communicated his decision in a resignation letter made available to journalists on Friday. In the letter, he confirmed his intention to seek the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the senatorial contest.

“I, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, hereby formally express my interest to contest for the position of Senator representing the good people of Ondo Central Senatorial District.

“This decision is borne out of a deep sense of responsibility, a lifelong commitment to public service and an unwavering belief in the immense potential of our people.”

Appointed in 2024 by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa shortly after he assumed office, Fasoranti said his years of professional and administrative experience have adequately prepared him for legislative duties.

He pointed to his over three decades in the medical field and public service, including his tenure at the State House Medical Centre in Abuja where he rose to a directorate position before retiring in 2024, as well as his recent role as SSG, as part of the foundation for his political aspiration.

Highlighting the values that have guided his journey, Fasoranti stressed his commitment to principled leadership and effective representation.

“I remain guided by values of humility, integrity, and dedication; principles that have shaped my personal and professional life.

“As I step forward in this journey, I do so with a clear vision: to provide purposeful representation, to listen to the aspirations of our people, and to translate those aspirations into meaningful action at the national level.”

He also appealed to constituents across Ondo Central Senatorial District to rally behind his bid, expressing confidence that their support would be crucial in achieving his goal of serving at the National Assembly.
