Groups stage Renewed Hope Walk, press conference for Tinubu 2027

Support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 gathered momentum on Thursday as two political support groups staged a “Renewed Hope Walk” and press conference in Ikeja, Lagos.

The event, organised by the Remi Tinubu Support Organisation (RETSO) and the Progressive Coalition, drew a large turnout of supporters, including Nollywood actors, political figures, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the state.

The walk, which moved through key areas in Ikeja, was marked by chants, branded paraphernalia, and expressions of solidarity for the President’s second-term ambition. Participants described the outing as both a show of support and a mobilisation effort aimed at taking the Renewed Hope message to the grassroots.

At the press conference that followed, several political leaders delivered goodwill messages, reinforcing the groups’ commitment to the Tinubu administration. Among them were Hon. Ganiu Adewale (Ajala), Hon. Layeni Funmilayo, Vice Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, and Hon. Bulky Badmus, Women Leader of Ojodu LCDA, all of whom commended the initiative and urged sustained engagement with the electorate.

In his welcome address, the South-West Coordinator of RETSO, Hon. Iyiade Adegoke, said the group’s support for the President was driven by confidence in his leadership and the reforms introduced since assuming office.

He noted that the administration’s policies were already beginning to yield positive outcomes, expressing optimism that they would place the country on a stronger economic and developmental footing.

“Our resolve is anchored on what we are already seeing. The reforms are bold, the direction is clear, and we believe Nigeria is on the path to greater heights under President Tinubu,” Adegoke said.

Speaking on the readiness of the organisation at the state level, the Lagos State Coordinator, Hon. Isa Laguda, outlined the structure of RETSO across the state, stressing that the group was fully prepared to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, the network has been strategically positioned to ensure that the message of continuity reaches every community.

“We are organised, we are ready, and we are taking this message to every ward, every street, and every household in Lagos State,” Laguda affirmed.

Providing further insight into the group’s strategy, the National Media and Entertainment Director of RETSO, Ambassador Saidi Balogun, unveiled what he described as the organisation’s operational blueprint ahead of the elections.

He explained that beyond political advocacy, RETSO is also committed to initiatives that empower women and youths, positioning the group as both a political and social intervention platform.

Balogun disclosed that the campaign approach for 2027 would go beyond traditional methods, focusing heavily on grassroots engagement.

“We are not limiting ourselves to conventional campaigns. Our focus is on direct engagement—house-to-house campaigns, town hall meetings, and community interactions that allow us to connect with people at a personal level,” he said.

He added that such strategies would ensure that the Renewed Hope agenda resonates more deeply with ordinary Nigerians.

The event underscored the growing activity among political support groups as the 2027 general elections gradually come into focus. Observers note that organisations like RETSO and the Progressive Coalition are likely to play a significant role in shaping campaign dynamics, particularly through grassroots mobilisation and non-traditional outreach methods.

With months still ahead of the official campaign season, Thursday’s outing in Ikeja signals an early start to what promises to be an intense political season, as supporters of President Tinubu move to consolidate backing for his anticipated re-election bid.
