Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved a cabinet reshuffle that sees the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Abdulmalik Gajam, redeployed to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as part of efforts to strengthen service delivery across key sectors.

Taking over the Budget and Planning portfolio is Professor Yahaya Zakari, who was sworn in on Monday, June 29, as a member of the Zamfara State Executive Council.

The changes were announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, who said the appointments take immediate effect.

Governor Lawal charged both officials to bring renewed dedication, professionalism and efficiency to their new responsibilities in line with his administration’s Rescue Agenda.

The cabinet reshuffle followed a meeting of the State Executive Council, where members reviewed ongoing projects, evaluated the implementation of government policies and discussed strategies aimed at accelerating development across the state.

The weekly Executive Council meetings have remained a key feature of the Lawal administration’s governance approach, providing an avenue for assessing performance, strengthening accountability and monitoring the execution of government programmes.

The latest changes underscore the governor’s determination to reposition critical ministries for improved performance as his administration continues to pursue reforms and development initiatives intended to improve the welfare of residents across Zamfara State.
