Gov Lawal Pledges Greater Backing for Security Forces After Zamfara Security Council Meeting

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing stronger support for security agencies as they intensify operations against banditry, insurgency and other forms of criminality across the state.

The governor gave the assurance on Thursday after presiding over the weekly State Security Council meeting at the Government House in Gusau, where senior military officers and heads of security agencies reviewed the security situation and discussed fresh strategies to tackle emerging threats.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening security operations in vulnerable communities, improving intelligence gathering and sharing among agencies, and enhancing rapid-response measures to protect residents.

Addressing the security chiefs, Lawal stressed that ensuring the welfare and operational effectiveness of personnel fighting on the frontlines remained a top priority for his administration.

“I want to make it clear to every service commander in this room; the welfare and operational readiness of our troops remain non-negotiable. My administration stands ready to authorize every required resource logistical, material and otherwise to ensure they operate at full capacity,” Lawal declared.

The governor reaffirmed that restoring peace and stability across Zamfara remains at the heart of his administration’s agenda, assuring security commanders that his government would continue to provide the resources and institutional support needed to sustain ongoing operations.

He also encouraged the heads of security agencies to communicate their operational requirements directly to his office, promising prompt attention without unnecessary administrative delays.

Deliberations at the meeting were said to have produced plans aimed at strengthening joint security patrols, expanding intelligence-driven operations and deepening collaboration with local communities as part of renewed efforts to curb insecurity across the state.
