Fresh Storm in Osun APC as Omisore Camp Accused of Destabilisation Moves

A new wave of tension is reportedly building within the Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with allegations that loyalists of Iyiola Omisore are fueling internal discord through what critics describe as “unreasonable demands and disruptive conduct.”

The concerns were raised in a statement issued Thursday morning by Osun Progressives Watch, which warned party leaders to be vigilant against what it termed a growing pattern of destabilisation ahead of critical political activities in the state.

According to the group, recent actions linked to the Omisore camp — ranging from calls for high-profile appointments to alleged behind-the-scenes political maneuvering — have heightened suspicion among party faithful.

“The cloud of crisis is being brewed within the party by a series of frivolous and increasingly ridiculous demands coming from the Omisore camp,” the statement read.

The group further alleged that some actors within the camp have maintained covert engagements with political opponents, including figures linked to the Adeleke political dynasty, raising concerns about divided loyalties.

“There are credible indications that certain individuals have been in constant discussions with the Adeleke family, with some even working openly against the party’s collective interest,” the group claimed.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has been at the centre of shifting alliances ahead of the next electoral cycle, making such allegations particularly sensitive.

The statement also pointed to a surge of online attacks by individuals believed to be aligned with Omisore, particularly following his recent meeting with party elder statesman Bisi Akande.

“After the meeting with Chief Bisi Akande, some of his supporters took to social media to post uncomplimentary remarks about the party leader, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and it is telling that such comments are being applauded by members of the Accord Party,” the group stated.

Gboyega Oyetola remains a central figure in the APC’s structure in the state, and public criticism of his leadership has reportedly deepened internal fault lines.

The group also referenced a recent visit by Omisore to Ilesa, where he was alleged to have made demands described as excessive and politically destabilising.

“Observers are beginning to question whether Omisore considers himself the only aspirant and why he believes he can hold the party to ransom with such irresponsible demands,” the statement added.

It contrasted Omisore’s approach with that of other aspirants, particularly Dotun Babayemi, who was commended for his grassroots engagement.

“If any aspirant should complain loudly, it should be Omoba Dotun Babayemi, who visited all 299 wards before the primaries,” the group noted.

Casting doubt on Omisore’s statewide appeal, the group argued that his political strength remains largely confined to his senatorial district.

“Otunba Omisore and his team were only visible in his senatorial district, and many believe his ambition was more senatorial than gubernatorial in nature,” the statement claimed.

The group urged APC leadership in Osun to take decisive steps to preserve unity and prevent what it described as calculated attempts to fracture the party from within.

“We call on party leaders to be wary of these destabilisation plans and to firmly resist unnecessary demands that are being cleverly deployed to sow disunity,” it warned.

As political maneuvering intensifies ahead of future elections, especially the August 15 governorship election in the state, the unfolding tensions within the Osun APC underscore the fragile balance between ambition and party cohesion — a test that could shape the party’s fortunes in the state.
