Emmanuelking Calls for Stronger Community Policing as Ogun CP Leads Security Summit in Remoland

…Urges Citizens, Security Agencies to Unite Against Rising Crime

The National Golden Patron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Sir Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, KOF, has called for stronger collaboration between security agencies and local communities as part of efforts to address emerging security challenges across the country.

Emmanuelking made the call on Wednesday during a Security Summit he hosted in Remoland, Ogun State. The event brought together the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Olubode Ojajuni, the leadership of the PCRC at both national and state levels, traditional rulers, heads of security agencies, community leaders and other key stakeholders.

The summit provided a forum for participants to examine evolving security threats and explore practical ways of strengthening cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the communities they serve.

Addressing participants, Emmanuelking stressed that ensuring public safety should not be viewed as the exclusive responsibility of the police, but as a collective obligation requiring active citizen participation.

According to him, “Security is far too important to be left to the Police alone. Every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding our communities. This is the vision upon which the PCRC was founded.”

He urged Nigerians to embrace closer cooperation with law enforcement agencies in tackling growing security concerns, including kidnapping, cult-related violence, ritual killings, illegal arms trafficking and cybercrime.

The PCRC National Golden Patron also described the committee’s slogan, “PCRC… Peace to the Nation,” as a reminder of the need for collective responsibility in building a safer society.

He encouraged communities to prioritise intelligence sharing, strengthen community policing initiatives and foster mutual trust between residents and security agencies as critical ingredients for sustainable peace.

Emmanuelking commended the Inspector-General of Police for his commitment to expanding community policing across Nigeria.

He also praised the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olubode Ojajuni, for his professionalism and sustained engagement with community stakeholders in addressing security concerns.

The summit featured extensive interactive sessions during which traditional rulers, community leaders, senior police officers and other security experts exchanged views with the Commissioner of Police on emerging security threats, intelligence gathering, crime prevention strategies and measures to improve public confidence in law enforcement.

At the end of the deliberations, participants unanimously reaffirmed the importance of sustained collaboration among the Nigeria Police Force, the PCRC, traditional institutions, security agencies and members of the public in combating crime and maintaining peace across Ogun State and the country.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by stakeholders to deepen partnerships, enhance intelligence gathering and work collectively towards creating safer and more secure communities throughout Ogun State and Nigeria.
