City Boy Movement Deepens Grassroots Synergy as Entertainment and Creative Directorate Visits Lagos Headquarters

LAGOS, NIGERIA — In a strategic move to solidify grassroots support ahead of the January 2027 presidential election, prominent stars across Nigeria’s entertainment, creative economy and sports sectors gathered at the Lagos State Headquarters of the City Boy Movement.

The high-powered delegation, representing the Directorate of Entertainment, Creative Economy, and Sports, was led by its National Director, veteran actor and cultural ambassador Hon. (Amb.) Saidi Balogun, alongside the South-West Assistant Director, Tunde Olaoye.

The delegation was received by the Lagos State Director of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, who is also the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area and the Director of Youth Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.

The contingent featured a wide array of prominent figures, including filmmakers, actors, visual artists, and musicians spanning secular, gospel, and Islamic genres, alongside sports personalities. The visit was organized to formally acquaint the Directorate with the leadership of the Movement in Lagos State, establish a seamless working relationship, and commit to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in January 2027.

Formally introducing the delegation, Ambassador Saidi Balogun emphasized the pivotal role the creative sector plays in shaping public opinion and mobilizing voters across the country.

“The Directorate of Entertainment, Creative Economy, and Sports is a key engine of this Movement,” Balogun said. “We represent household names—celebrity actors, filmmakers, visual creators, musicians, and sports icons who command massive influence among the populace, especially young voters. Our goal today is to align with the Lagos State leadership to build an unshakable working partnership.”

Balogun pledged the full support of creative practitioners across Nigeria to leverage their visibility and reach in championing the administration’s progress.

“We are committing our platforms, voices, and influence to spread the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s achievements,” he added. “We are ready to work hand-in-hand with the Movement to ensure his vision continues beyond 2027.”

Ambassador Balogun further disclosed that a football competition that will discover local talents has been scheduled for October 2026 while plans are also been made for snooker, tennis, basketball and athletics competition, all aimed at discovering talents an empowering them in line with the City Boy Movement mission.

In his response, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe expressed appreciation to the visiting artists and creative practitioners for their commitment to the City Boy Movement and President Tinubu’s mandate. He assured them that the doors of the Movement in Lagos State remain open to all dedicated stakeholders at all times.

“I warmly welcome you all to the Lagos Headquarters of the City Boy Movement,” Ogunlewe stated. “The creative economy and sports are vital pillars for national development and youth engagement. You can count on our maximum cooperation and active collaboration in every campaign and initiative moving forward.”

Addressing the socio-economic reforms under the current administration, Ogunlewe called for sustained patience and public advocacy from cultural leaders.

“The achievements of President Tinubu’s administration are clear—only the blind would deny them,” Ogunlewe emphasized. “While challenges persist, we must remember that nation-building is a marathon, not a dash. The foundation being laid today will yield lasting prosperity, and Nigerians will definitely be better for it as these reforms take full effect.”

The meeting concluded with tactical discussions on joint grassroots initiatives, campaign outreach drives, and youth-focused programs across Lagos and the South-West region. Both divisions reaffirmed their resolve to maintain an active working alliance as preparations intensify for the upcoming 2027 electoral cycle.
