Anambra Lawmaker Seized By Gunmen, His Vehicle Abandoned

A member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, representing Aguata North Constituency, Dr. Okechukwu Okoye, has been kidnapped.

According to reports, the lawmaker, who hails from the same community with the Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, was kidnapped late Sunday.

Though details of his kidnap were still sketchy, it was gathered that the lawmaker was taken away inside his black Sienna car within his constituency.

The spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, while confirming the development, said the lawmaker’s black Siena bus, which he was driving before the incident, had been recovered.

Ikenga said the command had launched a manhunt for the kidnappers with the aim of rescuing the lawmaker.
