2027: MOUN Kogi West Endorses IDRUFEM for House of Representatives Seat
In a significant political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN), Kabba, Bunu and Ijumu Branch, has endorsed Dr Idris Rufus Oluwafemi, popularly known as IDRUFEM, for the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
The endorsement was made in Kabba on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with the development adding a new dimension to the unfolding political landscape in Kogi West Senatorial District.
The declaration of support was associated with the union’s Kogi West structure, under the leadership of Comrade Omosayin Solomon, Zonal Chairman, Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN), Kogi West Senatorial Zone
The endorsement underscores the growing relevance of organised grassroots associations in political engagement and the efforts of aspirants to connect with stakeholders across the constituency ahead of the 2027 electoral contest.
Motorcycle operators occupy an important position in the local economy, providing transportation services, supporting commerce and sustaining livelihoods across urban centres and rural communities. Their activities connect residents to markets, workplaces, schools and essential services, making their concerns an important part of conversations about grassroots development.
MOUN’s reported endorsement of IDRUFEM therefore brings the voice of an organised segment of the transport sector into the wider debate on political representation, community advancement and responsive leadership in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
For IDRUFEM, the development presents an opportunity to strengthen engagement with transport operators and other community stakeholders on issues such as road infrastructure, security, economic empowerment, youth development and improved access to opportunities.
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of 2027, endorsements from organised groups are expected to form part of the broader political discourse, reflecting the interests, expectations and aspirations of different segments of the electorate.
The endorsement, however, represents the position attributed to the participating MOUN branch and should not automatically be interpreted as the unanimous position of every member of the union or its national leadership.
With the race for the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal seat attracting increasing attention, the development marks another reported milestone in IDRUFEM’s emerging political journey and places renewed focus on the role of grassroots organisations in the constituency’s political engagement.
